Title:

Cross Pier

Description:

The Cross Pier was built in the early eighteenth century to provide better protection for the harbour. Over the centuries it has suffered significant damage from storms and rough seas. In 1900 a stone groyne (or protective wall) was added to the south of the cross pier. This groyne was intended to check erosion of the sand dunes known as the East Bents.
